Material circulation Platform Business

Maar is the brand name of TBM's material circulation platform business, which creates new material circulation. We will continue to materialize our efforts by promoting proper waste separation, improving logistics efficiency, promoting the distribution of recycled materials, reducing waste and being environmentally conscious, and developing products that use recycled materials, by working with stakeholders in each phase of material circulation (use → collection → sorting → recycling → commercialization) and by utilizing internal and external resources.

Maar Recycled Materials Procurement, a matching platform for recycled materials

"Maar Recycled Material Procurement" is a platform that supports the procurement of recycled materials in accordance with the Digital Product Passport (DPP).

By utilizing the DPP system, we will increase the added value of recycled materials and spread and expand traceable recycled materials and products that use recycled materials. "Companies that manufacture products using recycled materials, etc." such as product and molding manufacturers and "companies that sell recycled materials, etc." such as waste plastic generating companies, recyclers, and compounders will register the requirements data for the recycled materials they wish to buy and sell within this service, and sales personnel with the extensive know-how of TBM, which has been cultivated through past material circulation efforts, will support each transaction of recycled materials, enabling highly accurate matching of recycled material transactions.

*A Digital Product Passport (DPP) is an electronic record that provides access to the entire life cycle of a product, from raw material procurement to recycling. By collecting data on manufacturing and its supply chain (recycled material content, GHG emissions, materials used, disposal methods, traceability information, etc.) and sharing it throughout the value chain, the aim is for all stakeholders, including consumers, to purchase products and materials with an understanding of their environmental friendliness. オフィスで資源循環を実践。MaaRサービスサイトはこちら

Background to the need for digitalization

The growing global recycled materials market

The global recycled plastics market is expected to grow from $50.78 billion in 2023 to $88.96 billion in 2030, at a CAGR of 8.3% during the forecast period *1. Among the companies participating in the New Plastics Economy Global Commitment, the top 10 brands and manufacturers in terms of plastic consumption are expected to need to supply more than 3 million tons of recycled material per year to achieve their 2025 targets *2.

Policies in various countries accelerating corporate initiatives

In Europe, DPP* compliance will be stipulated in the Ecodesign Regulation published by the European Commission in March 2022, and is expected to be approved in 2024. In the EU, it will be mandatory for products sold to be accompanied by DPP, so in the future, companies selling products to Europe are expected to be forced to take full-scale measures. Along with the promotion of ecodesign and the growing demand for recycled materials both domestically and internationally, there is a growing need to visualize information on contained substances as well as physical properties, processing information, quality information, etc.
