Society

TBM's mission is "Bridging today and the future we want". We believe that it is necessary to ensure occupational health and safety, people and team development in order to achieve sustainable business and development for the realization of our corporate philosophy. We strive for solving social issues through our activities while complying with the social issues stipulated in the code of conduct and aiming for a business that grows with the local community.

Health and Safety

Securing and maintaining a working environment where employees can work in a healthy and safe manner is the foundation and important issue for a better workplace and business development. We have established a code of conduct and a basic safety and health policy related to the workplace environment, and are promoting the creation of a better workplace.

Health and Safety Basic Policy

  • Comply with safety and health laws and internal standards, and strive for further safety and health management.
  • Demonstrate "safety first" through actions and work to establish the practice of "do not injure or cause injury"
  • Clarify the causes of hazards and accidents in the workplace, implement risk assessments that determine the priority of countermeasures, and promote the creation of safe and comfortable workplaces from "zero accidents" to "zero risks."
  • In order to prevent health problems due to overwork and mental health problems, we will improve hygiene management and promote measures to ensure the health of our employees.
  • We will deepen communication with all employees and carry out health and safety activities with the participation of all employees.

Health and Safety Management System

At the Tohoku LIMEX Factory and Yokosuka Circular Factory, we hold a monthly health and safety meeting, which all employees, including the factory manager, must attend, and a health and safety committee, which includes industrial physicians, safety managers, and health managers. At the health and safety meeting, we decide basic policies and annual goals, discuss health and safety education, road safety, and disaster prevention, and discuss and take measures to improve cases of dangers in daily work that have been shared in advance by each person in charge.

Safety and Health Training

In order to raise the awareness of safety and health among employees, we provide trainings related to the basics of safety and health, laws, management systems, the role of safety and health promoters, and measures to prevent health problems at new employee training and safety and health meetings. All employees who work at the factory take first-aid training to raise safety awareness even for non-specialized workers.

Circular People Management

TBM's vision is "Sustainable and circular innovations for centuries, building on the past to create the future." We want to continue to create businesses that realize the coexistence of people and the earth. TBM wants to be "a company that envisions the future and creates people who take on challenges." Circular People Management (CPM) is the concept of people and organizational development for TBM.
In CPM, we believe that it is important for today's TBM to "continue to create a place where emotions are linked from one's own heart." Our excitement lies in the process of working together with various colleagues to achieve our Vision, with the TBM Compass at the core, and each of us taking on the challenge of carrying out our Mission, "Bridging today and the future we want". As long as we continue to take on challenges, various relationships surrounding us (among TBM members, among us, customers and products, among products and the environment) will continue to change, and we will continue to transform. We are able to do so thanks to the many people who share our vision and have expectation in us, who have been involved with us, supported us, and given us many opportunities to take on challenges together. The sense of accomplishment, sense of presence, and sense of sharing that arises through challenges is a feeling of excitement. At CPM, we are working to keep this chain going. Led by the management team and the People & Culture Division, we are promoting initiatives from the perspective of creating place, developing people, and D&I.

Place creation and human resource development

① Create a place

Once a month, we hold a "Same Boat Meeting" where all employees share the status of TBM, as well as the challenges and achievements of the members. In the onboarding process of new members, one-on-one meetings and Kakehashi Juku (dialogue between founder Yamasaki and members), etc., are carried out to provide moving experiences and share values at TBM.

② Develop people who lead CPM

In order to promote the transformation of division heads so that they can create more moving places both inside and outside the company, we regularly provide opportunities to discuss TBM's management and business issues with external advisors. In the future, this initiative will be expanded not only to division heads but also to other employees, and we will work to provide opportunities for individual members to transform.

③ Understand member engagement

Motivation for taking on challenges, relationships within the company, and physical and mental health conditions of each member are measured once a month. Managers and HR Business Partners  are working on improving it.

D&I

We established a D&I team in September 2018, formulated a roadmap, and are implementing initiatives in collaboration with internal divisions and other companies. With the TBM Compas, we respect each other's "differences" such as gender, gender identity and sexual orientation, age, family structure, origin, disability, illness, language, nationality, ethnicity, religion, etc. We believe in the potential of relationships with people, and are working to create an organization where each individual can demonstrate their full potential. At TBM, we regard D&I as an essential management initiative, share the status of D&I promotion within the company, and take swift action.

With the community

TBM would like to actively engage in dialogue and cooperation with stakeholders in order to realize the future we want. We introduce our efforts with local communities where TBM's business sites are located, and our efforts to promote sustainability within the startup industry to which we belong.

With the local community

TBM's representative, Yamazaki, has had a strong desire to support recovery efforts since its establishment, based on his experience of going to disaster-stricken areas immediately after the Great East Japan Earthquake and providing relief supplies. Shiroishi Factory and Tohoku LIMEX Factory, which manufacture LIMEX, were built in Miyagi Prefecture, one of the prefectures in the affected area, in order to revitalize the region through job creation. The construction of the Shiroishi factory received support from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's innovation center location promotion project "Subsidy for advanced technology demonstration and evaluation equipment maintenance costs, etc." in 2013, and the construction of the Tohoku LIMEX factory received support from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's "Tsunami Grant" in 2016.・Selected for the "Subsidy for the location of companies that create jobs in areas affected by the nuclear disaster (manufacturing industry location support project)". By employing permanent, long-term employees, we aim to cultivate human resources who can play an active role in a wide range of areas, from Tohoku to Japan as a whole, and even to countries around the world that have problems with plastics, water resources, and forest resources, and aim to realize LIMEX products that have an impact on the world. Masu.
As part of our efforts to build bridges to the future, we are training and supporting the next generation. As an organization that supports the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's ``Children's Experiential Activities Promotion Declaration,'' we promote experiential activities for children who will play a role in creating a sustainable society. In addition to accepting factory tours from local schools at Shiroishi Factory, Tohoku LIMEX Factory, and Yokosuka Circular Factory, we actively conduct on-site classes on environmental issues for elementary, junior high, and high school students, and actively participate in work experience events. I am.

In addition, since cooperation with neighboring communities and businesses is particularly essential in material circulation initiatives, we are actively working together as shown in the examples below.

Sustainability in the startup industry

It is said that the number of startups is increasing that solves environmental and social issues as engines for growth, but there are not many opportunities enough to share knowledge and consult with each other yet. We believe that the existence of such opportunities will accelerate the resolution of environmental and social issues, and are actively committed to promote sustainability in the startup industry.
