TBM Environmental Policy

TBM has established the "TBM Environmental Policy" (hereinafter, this Policy) in order to realize our corporate philosophy and pass on a sustainable society and rich natural environment to future generations. TBM will continue to take on the challenge of achieving net zero environmental impact in the value chain of our business activities and solving environmental and social issues through our business activities.

Application

This policy applies to all directors, executive officers and employees of TBM Co., Ltd. and its subsidiaries. The subsidiaries concerned shall establish or revise this policy or their own environmental policies at their own decision-making bodies and take appropriate measures to ensure that all directors, executive officers and employees of their own companies understand their environmental policies.
This policy does not prevent each company from establishing its own policy that includes the contents of this policy. Each company's own policy may change the contents according to the laws and regulations and social customs of each country or region, or the characteristics of each business, or may add provisions not included in this policy. However, the provisions of this policy must not contradict or weaken the contents of the policies.
In addition, if each company establishes its own policy, it will clearly state that the policy is based on the "TBM Environmental Policy" or has been created with reference to it.

1. Compliance, pollution prevention, and continuous improvement

In addition to complying with environmental laws, we will establish our own standards and follow the precautionary principle to prevent pollution and other nuisances. We will ensure that each employee is aware of this policy, build and operate an environmental management system, set goals, thoroughly manage progress, and strive for continuous improvement.

2. Developing products and services based on life cycle thinking

TBM develops products and services with a strong awareness of their life cycle, aiming to reduce the environmental impact at all stages, including research, development, procurement, production, sales, transportation, use, recycling and disposal.

3. Addressing Priority Issues

TBM will proactively address the following key environmental issues:

  1. Climate Change Actions
    TBM is strongly aware of the impacts of anthropogenic climate change, and in order to promote the mitigation of climate change, we will reduce greenhouse gas emissions from our company and its value chain through energy conservation and active conversion to renewable energy. We aim to actively participate in any business opportunities related to carbon removal. In addition, from the perspective of adapting to climate change, we will actively work to evaluate, avoid and reduce risks related to our management.
  2. Measures to combat resource depletion and the creation of a circular economy
    TBM is keenly aware of the finiteness and importance of resources, and strives to maximize the lifetime value and make effective use of the resources used in its business activities through thorough management and recycling, aiming for zero waste generation in its business activities.
  3. Water Conservation
    We are strongly aware of the finiteness and importance of water, and strive to manage water intake sources, use, and discharge conditions, as well as conserve and recycle water. We design facilities and formulate response policies that take into account unexpected events such as heavy rains and floods.
  4. Ecosystem Conservation
    TBM strongly recognizes the value of terrestrial and marine ecosystems and biodiversity, and is committed to conserving them through its business activities, including raw materials procurement, use of biological resources, production and processing, sales, research and development, transportation, land use and development projects, investment, and management of its land holdings.

4. Information Disclosure and Cooperation with Stakeholders

We will disclose not only this environmental policy but also other environmental information related to our business in an easy-to-understand manner. We will also promote cooperation with our external stakeholders* for the conservation of the global environment. *External stakeholders include suppliers, business partners, local residents, municipalities, government, industry associations, and international initiatives among others.

The establishment of this policy was resolved at the board of directors meeting of TBM Corporation.
