TBM Formulates "D&I Policy" for Further Promotion of Diversity & Inclusion
- Received high marks in the "D&I Award" that evaluates companies' promotion of D&I and the "PRIDE Index", an index for LGBT+ initiatives-
TBM Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, CEO: Nobuyoshi Yamasaki, hereinafter referred to as TBM) formulated the "D&I Policy" with the aim of further promoting Diversity & Inclusion (hereinafter referred to as D&I). We are also pleased to announce that we have received the "D&I Award" Best Workplace Certification and the "PRIDE Index" Silver Certification based on the evaluation of our D&I efforts so far.
The "D&I Policy" aims to realize TBM's vision of "recycling innovation that is sustainable even after 100 years." It was formulated to accelerate the creation of an environment where activities can be done. We will continue to create a comfortable working environment for our employees, respect diversity, promote D&I throughout society, and build a bridge to the future we want to move forward.
Background
As values diversify due to globalization, the acceleration of innovation, and changes in the workplace environment progress, companies are required to build a corporate culture and structure that makes the most of diversity. For TBM to take on challenges on a global scale, it is essential to create an organization that respects diversity and has strengths. For example, we have carried out various initiatives such as issuing "D&I Tsushin" to share knowledge on gender, race, religion, etc. and holding events in conjunction with International Women's Day. We are striving to create an organization where each employee is not only interested in and "understands" D&I, but also creates opportunities for employees to talk with each other and "sympathize" with each other so that they can act in a considerate manner. In addition, in the corporate philosophy system “TBM Compass” formulated in November 2020, the thoughts and actions required of each person working at TBM are defined according to purpose and situation, collectively called “Values X”. As part of this, we have formulated a “TBM Sustainable Style” that considers the perspective of D&I, and are promoting the practice of D&I.
Formulation of D&I Policy
In order to further accelerate the promotion of D&I, which is essential for the realization of "recycling innovation that is sustainable even after 100 years," TBM has formulated the "D&I Policy," which is a pioneering initiative among companies in Japan. . We will work on the following four things with the aim of realizing the organizational image we aim for and contributing to the promotion of D&I throughout society.
1. We will create an environment where we can learn D&I, create opportunities to become self-sufficient, and point out when there are words and actions that do not respect diversity.
2. We will create mechanisms and systems that welcome diversity in recruitment and organizational development, and provide everyone with equal opportunities to take on challenges.
3. We will capture and reflect diverse needs in all business activities, including research and development, procurement, production, sales, and communication.
4. We aim to actively disseminate our own efforts outside the company and promote D&I in the manufacturing and start-up industries.
We plan to update the "D&I Policy" formulated this time as needed in line with the growth of the organization. In addition, we will accelerate D&I promotion actions by strengthening our internal D&I promotion system and reporting and discussing the status of D&I promotion at the Sustainability Committee, which includes management.

Acquired "D&I Award" Best Workplace Certification and "PRIDE Index" Silver Certification
This time, TBM won the best workplace certification, which is the highest rating, in Japan's first award system "D&I Award" that certifies and rewards companies that work on D&I. We received silver certification in the PRIDE Index, an evaluation index for our efforts. We were able to obtain this accreditation in recognition of the various initiatives that we have developed through the cycle of “knowing,” “sympathizing,” “practicing,” and “expanding” D&I. From 2022 onwards, we plan to build an internal system and formulate a personnel system that will enable employees to work more energetically.

D&I Team Comments
The goal of the D&I Policy is not to formulate it, but to permeate it and make it part of TBM's culture. As the organization expands and globalizes, we would like to work together to create an environment where members with diverse backgrounds can work more energetically, leading to innovation that can meet diverse needs on a global scale. We will actively receive feedback from both inside and outside the company, and will continue to promote D&I in a TBM-like way, working backwards from the ideal state.
