〜Recognized for its environmental performance in reducing petroleum-based plastic usage and  CO₂  emissions〜  -

Tokyo, November 5, 2024 – TBM Co., Ltd. is pleased to announce that its eco-conscious material, LIMEX Sheet, made primarily from calcium carbonate, has been adopted for campaign tapestries used by Kitchen Origin and Origin Bento, operated by ORIGIN TOSHU Co., Ltd. These tapestries have been gradually introduced since October across approximately 400 stores in the Kanto and Kansai regions.

ORIGIN TOSHU Co., Ltd operates Kitchen Origin and Origin Bento, specializing in bento and deli items across the Kanto and Kansai regions. The company actively promotes sustainability initiatives, including lightweight packaging, transitioning to LED lighting, and recycling food waste.

The decision to adopt LIMEX Sheet has been made due to its ability to reduce the use of petroleum-based plastics and lower greenhouse gas emissions, including CO2, compared to traditional petroleum-based plastic sheets. Specifically, TBM estimates that LIMEX Sheet can reduce petroleum-based plastic usage by approximately 10% and greenhouse gas emissions by about 26% when compared to conventional synthetic paper tapestries.* Furthermore, LIMEX Sheet is produced at TBM’s facility in Tagajo City, Miyagi Prefecture, which operates using electricity with a net-zero CO2 emission coefficient. This underscores TBM's commitment to minimizing greenhouse gas emissions throughout the product lifecycle.

* Estimates are based on TBM's calculations and may vary depending on data and conditions. The calculations consider only the tapestry material (excluding transport and processing impacts).

Key Features of LIMEX Sheet

1. Reduction of Petroleum-Based Plastics and CO2, Conservation of Water and Forest Resources

Compared to conventional petroleum-based plastic sheets or synthetic paper, LIMEX Sheet reduces petroleum-based plastic usage and greenhouse gas emissions. Unlike paper, it uses no wood pulp and requires almost no water during manufacturing.

2. Excellent Durability and Water Resistance

It offers excellent durability and water resistance, making it suitable for use in various environments, including outdoor settings and areas with high humidity.

3. Compatibility with Labels and Adhesive Applications

Enhanced adhesive processing enabled applications such as removable labels and cold-resistant adhesive, making LIMEX Sheet ideal for promotional POP materials, stickers, and food labels.
