TBM obtains ISO 14001:2015 certification, an international standard for environmental management systems, at four locations, including production sites

TBM Co., Ltd. (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, CEO: Atsuyoshi Nobuyoshi, hereinafter referred to as TBM) is pleased to announce that it has obtained ISO 14001:2015 certification, an international standard for Environmental Management System (hereinafter referred to as "EMS"), at four of its locations, including its own production facility (Tokyo Head Office, Technology Center, Tohoku LIMEX Factory, and Yokosuka Circular Factory).

Under the mission of "Bridging today and the future we want.," TBM is working to achieve carbon neutrality and a circular economy by developing and disseminating LIMEX, an environmentally friendly alternative material to plastic and paper made from calcium carbonate (limestone) and other raw materials, both domestically and internationally, and developing low-carbon, low-environmental-impact LIMEX and recycled materials using carbon recycling technology. In addition to its materials business, TBM is also working to promote a material circulation production business that purchases and sells recycled raw materials in cooperation with recycling partners nationwide, as well as operating a recycling plant that recycles plastic and LIMEX with the largest processing capacity in Japan, and working to revitalize the resource material circulation market through a material circulation platform business that visualizes traceability and environmental impact through digital transformation.

Going forward, we will continue to promote systematic efforts to improve our environmental performance based on the PDCA cycle through the operation of our EMS, and aim to further increase the positive impact we have on the environment through our business.

What is ISO 14001?

This is an international standard for EMS established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). The standard requires that environmental management be integrated into an organization's management system, that environmental risks and opportunities be addressed effectively, and that the PDCA cycle for key environmental management items and environmental laws and regulations be continuously implemented. ISO 14001 certification can be obtained when an EMS that meets the requirements of the standard is confirmed through an audit by a certification body. Comments from the person in charge

We began working on building an EMS in earnest in 2022, and have now obtained ISO 14001 certification. We are pleased that our EMS has been recognized as meeting the standards set by international standards. We began working on building an EMS because we felt that we needed to establish a company-wide environmental management system as the scale of our company and business expanded, with the Tohoku LIMEX Factory starting operations in 2020 and the Yokosuka Circular Factory in 2022. By building an EMS in line with the requirements of ISO 14001, we feel that we have been able to grasp the current status of our company's environmental performance and establish a system for continuous improvement.

Our company's mission is to "Bridging today and the future we want.," and we are working to address environmental issues with the aim of realizing a "Sustainability Revolution." Therefore, we believe that we must always work to a high standard in reducing the environmental impact of our business and complying with environmental laws and regulations. We will continue to operate and improve our EMS, aiming to further improve our environmental performance.
