TBM is certified to the GRS and RCS

TBM is pleased to announce that we have acquired Global Recycled Standard Certification (GRS) and Recycled Claim Standard Certification (RCS), an international certification program for recycled materials and products established by the Textile Exchange, an American non-profit organization.

About GRS and RCS certifications

GRS and RCS certifications are international third-party certification standards established by Textile Exchange, a non-profit, non-governmental membership organization in the U.S. GRS certification requires social and environmental practices, chemical restrictions, recycled material content and traceability. The main objective of GRS is to increase the use of recycled materials in products and reduce the harmful social, environmental, and chemical impacts of production. RCS certification requires information on the final products' amount and storage conditions of certified materials.

Overview

The global recycled plastics market is projected to grow from $50.78 billion in 2023 to $88.96 billion in 2030 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.3% during the forecast period.*1In addition, governments are announcing policies to promote the use of recycled materials, and the need for certified recycled materials is expected to grow at an accelerating pace.

TBM has been recycling plastic products by operating one of Japan's largest material recycling plants, matching recycled materials with more than 100 recycling partners nationwide, product development with our own recycled material brand "CirculeX," and selling recycled materials mainly in Southeast Asia. With this certification, TBM will be able to deliver GRS and RCS-certified polypropylene (PP), polyethene (PE), polystyrene (PS), and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) to the domestic and overseas markets. We will contribute to accelerating plastic circulation and developing the recycling plastic market.
