TBM Co., Ltd., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, CEO: Nobuyoshi Yamasaki, hereinafter referred to as TBM) has been certified by the SBT (Science Based Targets) Initiative (hereinafter referred to as SBTi) for the 1.5°C target for greenhouse gas reduction targets. , and signed "The Climate Pledge" jointly launched by Amazon and Global Optimism.

SBTi (Science Based Targets initiative)
An international climate change initiative jointly established in 2015 by the United Nations Global Compact, CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project), WRI (World Resources Institute), and WWF (World Wildlife Fund). We promote the setting of consistent greenhouse gas emission reduction targets. By receiving SBTi certification, companies and organizations will be able to meet their greenhouse gas emission reduction targets in line with the Paris Agreement's goal of keeping the global temperature rise well below 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels and striving to limit the increase to 1.5 degrees Celsius. You can publicly declare that you comply with the goal of "pursuing

The Climate Pledge
In 2019, Amazon and Global Optimism jointly launched The Climate Pledge, pledging to reach net zero carbon by 2040, ten years ahead of the Paris Agreement. As of March 2022, more than 300 companies have signed up to The Climate Pledge, demonstrating that demand for products and services to reduce carbon emissions will grow rapidly in the future.

Overview

TBM is working on various approaches to climate change, such as introducing renewable energy power at its manufacturing sites and voluntarily responding to the climate change questionnaire of the CDP, an international environmental information disclosure platform. In August 2021, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of our founding, we set an ambitious goal as "TBM Pledge 2030" and pledged to "realize carbon negative by 2030." The greenhouse gas emission reduction targets in this "TBM Pledge 2030" were considered and set to meet the standards set by the SBTi, but this time there is no scientific basis for meeting the "1.5°C target" indicated in the Paris Agreement. officially recognized by SBTi as a target based on In addition, TBM has signed The Climate Pledge, in which more than 300 companies participate, and has agreed to the following three points.

・Regular measurement and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions
Implement decarbonization strategies in line with the Paris Agreement through business transformation and innovation, including efficiency improvements, renewable energy, raw material reduction and other carbon reduction strategies
Add an intrinsic, permanent, and quantifiable socially beneficial offset to make the remaining carbon emissions carbon neutral, achieving net zero annual carbon emissions by 2040.

In January 2022, TBM will release the "Vision Book," which summarizes TBM's thoughts, activities, and systems based on the corporate philosophy system "TBM Compass" and ambitious goals "TBM Pledge 2030." bottom. We aim to realize a "Sustainability Revolution" through dialogue and cooperation with a wider range of stakeholders through participation in this international initiative and through the "Vision Book."
