- High water resistance suitable for outdoor use and price competitiveness achieved through cost reduction also highly evaluated -

TBM Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Nobuyoshi Yamasaki; hereinafter referred to as TBM) is pleased to announce that its environmentally friendly "LIMEX Sheet," which is made primarily from calcium carbonate, has been adopted for two types of table stickers to be used at the "Sendai Oktoberfest 2024" (held from September 6th to September 23rd, 2024; location: Nishikicho Park, Aoba-ku, Sendai City), hosted by U-media Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture; CEO: Hitoshi Konno; hereinafter referred to as U-media).
The Sendai Oktoberfest is an annual beer festival that began in 2006 and is held at the same time as the original German Oktoberfest. With the themes of "local production for local consumption," "regional revitalization," and "international understanding," the festival offers German beer, local Tohoku beer, a menu that even non-drinkers can enjoy, and a wide range of music genres. In addition, the festival aims to blend in with the scenery of Sendai, the city of trees, coexist with nature, and add color to people's lives, and is also promoting efforts toward the SDGs, such as reducing the use of one-way containers through a deposit system and carrying out "trash picking activities" around the event venue.

LIMEX Sheet reduces the use of petroleum-based plastics compared to sheets made from petroleum-based plastics, thereby curbing greenhouse gas emissions, including CO2. The company's own factory (Tagajo in Miyagi Prefecture), which manufactures the LIMEX Sheet used in this project, uses electricity with virtually "zero CO2 emission factor" to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, including CO2, over the entire product life cycle.
In adopting LIMEX Sheet, the company was recognized for its excellent water resistance, which makes it suitable for outdoor events, as well as its price competitiveness and environmental performance, which helps conserve natural resources at high risk of depletion. Compared to stickers made with general synthetic paper, it is expected to reduce the amount of petroleum-based plastics used by approximately 68%, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, including CO2, by approximately 32%*.
TBM will continue to aim to realize a sustainable society by expanding the number of sales partners for this product and promoting the spread of LIMEX Sheet for adhesive applications in various industries, including the retail and food industries.

■ Key Features of LIMEX Sheet
・Reduction of Petroleum-Based Plastics and CO2, Conservation of Water and Forest Resources
Compared to typical petroleum-based plastics plastic sheets and synthetic paper, it reduces the amount of petroleum-based plastics used and reduces greenhouse gas emissions, including CO 2. Also, compared to paper, it does not use any wood pulp as a raw material and consumes almost no water during production.
・Superior Durability and Water Resistance
Because of its durability and water resistance, LIMEX Sheet can be used in the same applications as conventional petroleum-based plastic sheets.
3. Compatibility with Labels and Adhesive Applications
Improvements in adhesive processing technology have made it possible to handle strong, removable adhesives and frozen food glue, allowing for a wide range of adhesive applications such as promotional POP displays and stickers for events and in-store use, and food labels.
