TBM announces "ScopeX", a cloud service that visualizes greenhouse gas emissions including CO2
-Proposing measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and aiming to realize a carbon-neutral society-

TBM Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and CEO: Nobuyoshi Yamasaki; hereinafter referred to as TBM) is pleased to announce that it has begun offering the beta version of ScopeX, a cloud service that visualizes greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
Climate change is now an important management agenda that affects corporate value, and companies striving to realize Decarbonization society need to understand the GHG emissions emitted throughout their supply chain. However, because direct emissions of GHGs, including CO2 (Scope 1), indirect emissions (Scope 2), and GHG emissions throughout the value chain (Scope 3) cover a wide range of areas, accurate measurement takes time, and there is a need to improve the efficiency of collecting dispersed information and preparing various reports.
TBM has used a life cycle assessment (LCA) analysis method to calculate the environmental impact of products throughout their life cycle, from raw material procurement to disposal. This analysis has been applied to the development and production improvements of LIMEX, a material primarily made from limestone, and CirculeX, a material containing over 50% recycled material. TBM also implemented the Hacobel Connect CO2 calculation support service to visualize Scope 3 emissions in LIMEX transportation. In fiscal 2021, the company calculated Scope 3 emissions and achieved a "B" score in the "Climate Change" category in the CDP report. TBM's dedicated sustainability department also provides consulting services for companies aiming for carbon neutrality. Leveraging this knowledge and expertise in understanding GHG emissions, TBM developed ScopeX, a cloud-based service that supports corporate activities toward Decarbonization society.
ScopeX allows you to understand GHG emissions generated from a series of business activities, including raw material procurement, manufacturing, logistics, and disposal, and identify areas that should be prioritized for reduction. It has an excellent user interface that allows intuitive input even without specialized knowledge, and it can centrally manage environmental data from multiple locations, reducing the workload of staff. In the future, we will expand the functionality of this service to match users, including partners who support TBM, with solutions to reduce GHG emissions.
Background
After the reorganization of the Tokyo Stock Exchange market on April 4, 2022, companies listed on the prime market will be required to disclose risk information due to climate change in line with the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD). Standard and growth markets are no exception and are encouraged to disclose. However, some companies are saying that it is difficult to secure human resources who can manage the process from collecting environment-related data to the calculation process, so there is a need for an easy-to-use tool that can centrally manage GHG emissions for all corporate activities. .
ScopeX service details
The GHG emissions and report items calculated in this service are based on the "GHG Protocol*". Under the protocol, GHG emissions from corporate activities are divided into direct emissions (Scope 1), indirect emissions (Scope 2), and GHG emissions in the value chain (Scope 3). There are 15 categories, such as transportation. ScopeX enables calculation of GHG emissions for the entire company by inputting data on corporate activities related to Scope 1-3, enabling analysis for each site and comparison between sites. In the future, we will develop GHG emission forecasts calculated based on the emissions performance of each company and comprehensive proposals for reduction measures in line with corporate reduction targets through cloud services.
*The GHG Protocol is an international standard for calculating and reporting GHG emissions.
Feature 1: Dashboard showing the full picture of greenhouse gas emissions
Scope 1-3 GHG emissions can be calculated for each site and compared by month and year.
Feature 2: Screen design that is easy to input and operate even without specialized knowledge
The screen is designed so that you can intuitively enter the amount of activity in your company's activities.
Feature 3: Function to recommend measures to reduce GHG emissions
We plan to gradually add a matching function for companies that are looking for ways to reduce GHG emissions and companies that have such solutions, and a comprehensive proposal function for not only energy measures but also transportation and new materials. is.
