Background
Approximately 6.3 billion tons of plastic waste is discarded worldwide, with 79% reportedly ending up in landfills or in the natural environment.*1 Thailand, where this product is manufactured and where the raw materials are sourced, formulated the "Thailand's Roadmap on Plastic Waste Management 2018-2030" in 2018 in response to the current lack of progress in plastic recycling. The country announced its goal of gradually reducing plastic use, aiming to completely eliminate grocery bag, polystyrene food containers, disposable plastic cups and straws by 2022. Japan also passed the "Act on Promotion of Plastic material circulation" in June 2021, and is considering imposing fees on certain plastic products and requiring municipalities and waste producers to separate and recycle them, raising calls for plastic material circulation both domestically and internationally.

Product overview/features
Approximately 200,000 tons*2 of garbage bags are consumed annually in Japan, most of which are made from virgin plastic (non-recycled material) materials. Therefore, by using this product, which contains at least 50% recycled plastic, it is possible to reduce the amount of plastic waste. Furthermore, compared to regular garbage bags, this product can also reduce greenhouse gas emissions, including CO2. Despite being made overseas, traceability is ensured through raw material certification, and the product has earned Eco Mark certification. The price is the same as regular garbage bags, making it both environmentally friendly and economical.
