Background

Environmental problems such as climate change, resource depletion, and water resource crises are progressing rapidly around the world, and it is imperative that we respond to them not only at the national level but also at the corporate level. In particular, each country has its own regulations regarding plastics, and 127 countries1, including Japan, have banned or restricted the use of plastic bags.

In recent years, Vietnam's plastics industry has grown remarkably, producing about 8.8 million tons of products annually in 2019, accounting for 6.7% 2 of Vietnam's GDP. On the other hand, the Vietnamese government has adopted a policy of discontinuing the use of single-use plastic products. was passed. In addition, at the 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26) held in the United Kingdom, we announced that we will aim for net zero greenhouse gas emissions (carbon neutral) by 2050. .
