Second LIMEX mechanical recycling with Adventure World: Providing recycled LIMEX shopping baskets

Adventure World, operated by Hours Co., Ltd. in Shirahama, Wakayama Prefecture, aims to become a zero-waste, circular park. As part of this initiative, LIMEX drink cups and park guides have been introduced within the park. After use, these items are collected inside the park, repalletized by TBM, and recycled into material-recycled products. In 2022, the first material-recycled product—the trays used inside the park—was introduced. As the second phase, shopping baskets used in some of the park’s gift shops and hangers used for displaying and selling clothing began operation on Friday, August 8, 2025. The hangers are also available for purchase at the park’s gift shops.
【Operation of Material-Recycled Shopping Baskets and Hangers】
Operation start: From Friday, August 8, 2025
Quantity / Usage location:
・Shopping baskets: Approx. 500 units / Park gift shops: AW and Symbiosis (2 locations)
・Hangers: Approx. 200 units / Park gift shops: AW, Symbiosis, and Ocean Grotto (3 locations; also used for external events)
【Effects of Introducing LIMEX Drink Cups】
Since August 2022, Adventure World has replaced all 220,000 plastic beverage cups used annually with LIMEX cups. This change reduces the use of petroleum-based plastics by over 930 kg (more than 40%) and significantly lowers CO₂ emissions across the entire lifecycle, from sourcing to production and disposal.

【Realizing the LIMEX Material Recycling Model】
We aim to realize a material recycling model that includes LIMEX cups and park guides made from LIMEX sheets. Dedicated collection boxes are installed throughout the park, and the collected LIMEX products go through sorting, collection, and cleaning before being pelletized by TBM and reused within the park as material-recycled products.
※The shopping baskets used in the park’s gift shops are made using LIMEX cups collected for material recycling. Approximately 30% of the baskets are made from recycled materials.
