The LimeAir Bag, a plastic bag made from LIMEX, has been adopted as the plastic bag for guest room trash cans at APA Hotels nationwide.

- Environmental performance evaluated for weight reduction, plastic and CO2 reduction contribution -

TBM Co., Ltd. (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Nobuyoshi Yamasaki; hereinafter referred to as TBM) is pleased to announce that its LimeAir Bag, a plastic bag made from the environmentally friendly material LIMEX, has been adopted as the plastic bag for guest room trash bins at accommodation facilities operated by APA Hotel Co., Ltd. (Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Fumiko Motoya; hereinafter referred to as APA Hotel) nationwide (266 hotels, total number of rooms: 64,959).

APA Hotels has adopted the "APA Comfort and Environment Declaration" to create a comfortable society for people and the earth, with the theme of "always a comfortable environment." We are working on environmental measures with the belief that we need to build a comfortable society for the Earth's environment, which is finite, not infinite.

The "LimeAir Bag" was adopted due to its lighter weight compared to ordinary polyethylene bags and its environmental performance that can reduce the amount of petroleum-based plastic used and greenhouse gas emissions, including CO2. By switching from the polyethylene bags that were previously used to LimeAir Bags, it is expected that the amount of petroleum-based plastic used will be reduced by approximately 21% annually, and greenhouse gas emissions, including CO2, will be reduced by approximately 21%.

■ Features of the "LimeAir Bag*"

・Reducing the amount of petroleum-based plastic used

By using LIMEX, it is possible to reduce the amount of petroleum-based plastics used compared to conventional polyethylene bags.

・Reduce greenhouse gas emissions, including CO2

By reducing the amount of petroleum-based plastics used, we can reduce greenhouse gas emissions, including CO2, throughout the entire lifecycle of the bags, from the procurement of raw materials to disposal, compared to conventional polyethylene bags.

・Lightweight design achieved through unique compounding technology

By mixing and stretching polyethylene resin and calcium carbonate (limestone) using our unique compounding technology, we are able to reduce the bulk density of the film, resulting in a lighter weight bag compared to ordinary polyethylene bags.

*LimeAir Bags are made primarily from plastic, with calcium carbonate as a component, and therefore fall under the category of "plastic containers and packaging" under the Containers and Packaging Recycling Law.
