TBM forms business partnership with BuyWill, which promotes the creation and distribution of "carbon credits" to achieve carbon neutrality

~ Aiming to create new environmental and economic value through collaboration between startups in the GX sector ~

TBM Corporation (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Nobuyoshi Yamasaki; hereinafter referred to as "TBM"), which is engaged in the development of environmentally friendly new materials and material circulation business, and ByWill Corporation (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Yuichiro Shimomura; hereinafter referred to as "ByWill"), which aims to achieve carbon neutrality in all 47 prefectures of Japan, will collaborate to promote business aimed at achieving carbon neutrality and promoting awareness of the circular economy. Utilizing the know-how and services related to the "circulation of environmental value and economic value" that both parties have cultivated through their businesses, the two companies will collaborate on efforts that contribute to the revitalization of the carbon credit market and material circulation market.


■ Background

TBM is working on the domestic and international spread of LIMEX, an environmentally friendly new material made primarily from mineral-derived and CO2-derived calcium carbonate, the operation of one of Japan's largest mechanical recycling recycling plants, and the construction and operation of a material circulation platform. In addition, TBM is promoting ESG initiatives through a variety of approaches, including the introduction of renewable energy electricity at its own manufacturing sites, voluntary response to the climate change questionnaire of CDP, an international ESG information disclosure platform, active use of LCA for the entire life cycle of products and services or at specific stages in order to comprehensively understand and reduce the environmental impacts that occur upstream and downstream of the supply chain, and fund raising through green finance.

 

ByWill aims to contribute to Japan's carbon neutrality goal and is working to promote regional Decarbonization across the country by encouraging the use of carbon credits. ByWill creates and distributes carbon credits, one way to achieve carbon neutrality. We handle everything from creating credits on a performance-based basis to finding buyers and monetizing them. In addition to supporting producers, we also provide comprehensive support centered on Decarbonization their own businesses, including assistance with procuring carbon credits both domestically and internationally, Decarbonization-neutrality consulting such as formulating environmental visions and Decarbonization policies, and branding and PR support through the dissemination of environmental initiatives.

 

■ Specific Initiatives

Through this partnership, we will advance the following initiatives:

1. Leveraging the branding, public relations, PR, and sustainability know-how and expertise that TBM has cultivated in the GX field regarding carbon neutrality and circular economy awareness-raising, we will support BuyWill's business, communication, and sustainability activities. We will collaborate on awareness-raising efforts to accelerate Decarbonization across Japan and promote regional capital and material circulation.

  • ・ByWill will participate in Resource Recycling Council secretariat is run by TBM, and will collaborate in a working group on the theme of carbon circulation (promoting efforts to commercialize CCU products through carbon circulation).
  • ・TBM will participate in the Regional Decarbonization Promotion Consortium that ByWill is currently establishing, and will collaborate on the creation of carbon credits based on new technologies and products.

2. ByWill will support TBM's business activities by utilizing its accumulated know-how and knowledge regarding environmental value creation (credit creation), such as supporting the creation of "J-Credits." The two companies will collaborate on efforts to create mechanical recycling for products made with CR LIMEX (CCU Limex) material, which utilizes TBM's CCU technology, and for plastic material recycling.
