LIMEX food packaging sealant film is used for Ishii Foods' "Hamburg steak made with new onions from Shirako Town"

- The second selection in the "Regional and Seasonal" series -

Ishii Foods Co., Ltd., which is developing products using additive-free cooking*1, has adopted a food packaging sealant film*2 made from the environmentally friendly material "LIMEX" for its "Hamburg steak made with new onions from Shirako Town" in its "Regional and Seasonal" series. This is the second adoption, following the "Hamburg steak with tomato sauce made with cabbage from Miura, Kanagawa (roll cabbage style)" which went on sale in February 2024. It has been on sale in some supermarkets since May 2024. It is also scheduled to be used in the hamburger steak products of the same series scheduled to go on sale from July.

The adopted food packaging sealant film uses "LIMEX (LIMEX Pellet)," an environmentally friendly material made primarily from limestone, in part of the film, which makes it possible to reduce the amount of petroleum-based plastics used and greenhouse gases including CO2 throughout the entire product lifecycle, from raw material procurement to disposal (incineration), compared to conventional plastic food packaging films. In addition, the new film has the same functional and physical properties as conventional products, such as heat resistance, sealing strength, and impact resistance.

*1 No food additives are used in the manufacturing process at Ishii Foods.
*2 A film used as a component of laminated packaging materials for various foods, which gives bags and other items a seal when heated and pressed.
