TBM launches new product of "LIMEX illumination sheet" with limestone as main raw material, expands models compatible with solvent inkjet printers
~Improvement of the coating process on the sheet surface enables expression of more accurate colors~
TBM Co., Ltd., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo, CEO: Nobuyoshi Yamasaki, hereinafter referred to as TBM) has launched a new product of solvent inkjet "LIMEX illumination sheet", which is intended for applications such as illumination posters and outdoor advertisements. We are pleased to announce that we will start selling from today.
Compared to plastic decorative film, "LIMEX Illuminated Sheet" has excellent light transmission and diffusion that enable beautiful color development, environmental performance that reduces the amount of petroleum-based plastic used, and inexpensive limestone. It has cost competitiveness by using it. The LIMEX Illumination Sheet for solvent inkjets, which will go on sale today, has excellent drying properties compared to conventional products by adding a surfactant that has a high affinity with solvent ink to the coating agent on the surface of the sheet. In comparison, it has become possible to express more accurate colors evenly. In the future, TBM will strengthen the introduction of "LIMEX illumination sheet" to business companies and affiliated companies such as retail stores such as cosmetics, restaurants, transit advertisements and movie theaters.
"LIMEX illumination sheet" product overview
As the movement toward plastic regulations is accelerating around the world, "LIMEX Illumination Sheet", which uses limestone as the main raw material, is an alternative to the illumination film used in storefront displays at retail stores and posters in transportation facilities such as stations and airports. was announced in November 2019 and has been introduced by many companies. "LIMEX illumination sheet" is compatible with solvent inkjet printing and UV and latex inkjet printing.
Beautiful colors with little light unevenness
Due to the void structure created in the sheet molding process, it has superior light transmittance and the property of diffusing light evenly, which is necessary for LED light sources, compared to plastic decorative films, enabling uniform surface emission.
Compatible with a wide range of printing presses
By improving the coating process on the sheet surface, we have expanded the range of printers compatible with solvent inkjet printers.
*Some printers from Seiko Epson Corporation, Mimaki Engineering Co., Ltd., and Roland DG Corporation are supported.
Reducing use of petroleum-based plastics
Limestone is used as the main raw material, and by switching from PET films for lighting to LIMEX lighting sheets, it is expected that the amount of petroleum-based plastics used will be reduced by approximately 58%. *TBM calculation
High cost competitiveness
Limestone, which is the main raw material, is inexpensive, and since it does not use the light diffusing agent used in plastic decorative films, it is possible to achieve both ecology and economy with cost competitiveness.
