Eco-conscious “LIMEX Sheet” Adopted for Travel Guide Cover of Sun PhuQuoc Airways, an Airline under Vietnam’s Major Conglomerate Sun Group

TBM Co., Ltd. is pleased to announce that its environmentally friendly material “LIMEX Sheet,” which uses inorganic materials such as calcium carbonate as its main raw material, has been adopted for the cover of the travel guide issued by Sun Phu Quoc Airways Co., Ltd., an airline under Sun Group Joint Stock Company. The travel guide will be distributed at airports and on board Sun PhuQuoc Airways flights.
■ Overview of the Adoption
Sun PhuQuoc Airways is a new airline established by Sun Group, one of Vietnam’s leading conglomerates engaged in resort development and other businesses. The carrier commenced commercial operations on November 1, 2025, initially operating domestic routes connecting major Vietnamese cities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Phu Quoc. Looking ahead, Sun PhuQuoc Airways plans to expand its network to international destinations including Seoul, Taipei, Bangkok, Singapore and Hong Kong.
Sun Group positions “sustainable development” at the core of its corporate philosophy and is actively advancing environmentally conscious resort and infrastructure development, including the introduction of renewable energy and the establishment of wastewater monitoring systems. Within these efforts, the high environmental performance of LIMEX Sheet, especially its ability to reduce the use of water and forest resources, was evaluated positively, leading to its adoption for the cover of the airline’s new travel guide.
Compared with paper, LIMEX Sheet can reduce the amount of water resources used during manufacturing by approximately 94%* and, because it does not use wood pulp as a raw material, contributes to the conservation of natural resources. At TBM’s own plant in Tagajo City, Miyagi Prefecture, where LIMEX Sheet is manufactured, electricity derived from virtually 100% renewable energy with a CO₂ emission factor of zero is used. We are currently expanding the product lineup for a variety of applications, including outdoor media, labels and stickers, and tapestries. This project was made possible through collaboration with Ricoh Vietnam Company Limited, which sells multifunction devices and printers and provides IT solutions, and Printopia Vietnam, which handled the design and printing of the travel guidebook. Taking this adoption as a starting point, TBM plans to further expand the use of LIMEX in other products through ongoing collaboration with these two companies.
*The amount of water used in the production of LIMEX Sheet is calculated based on actual performance data from TBM’s Tohoku LIMEX Plant. The amount of water used in paper production is based on the “Trends in New Water Usage per Ton of Paper and Paperboard Produced” published by the Japan Paper Association. These figures are approximate values based on estimates and are not guaranteed.
