TBM's recycling project in Tomioka City, Gunma Prefecture, selected for the Ministry of the Environment's "Circular Business Model Demonstration Project"

The Ministry of the Environment has adopted the "2025 Regional material circulation Promotion Support Project (Circular Business Model Demonstration Project)" as part of its efforts to transition to a circular economy. The project, "Demonstration Project for Supporting the Trading recycled material through Digitalization and Visualizing Waste Plastic Transactions," is being undertaken in collaboration with TBM's Tomioka City, Gunma Prefecture.
The purpose of this project is to promote the recycling of industrial waste plastic that was previously incinerated. Specifically, by utilizing a proprietary digital platform, we are working to match buyers and sellers of waste plastic and recycled material, review the processing flow for companies in the city, and promote a shift from incineration to recycling.
Going forward, the city will strengthen its collaboration with the Ministry of the Environment, conduct interviews with companies in the city, and develop and verify the effectiveness of a material circulation dashboard within 2025. From fiscal 2026 onwards, the city will expand the project to other municipalities in Gunma Prefecture, with the aim of establishing a regional material circulation model.
