Eco-conscious "LIMEX Sheet" Adopted for Menu Boards at Ringer Hut, Specializing in Nagasaki's Soul Food "Nagasaki Champon"

"Environmental performance that contributes to water resource conservation recognized, adoption to begin in approximately 550 stores nationwide from March"

TBM is pleased to announce that its environmentally conscious "LIMEX Sheet," made primarily from calcium carbonate, has been adopted for the menu boards of "Ringer Hut," a Nagasaki Champon specialty restaurant operated by Ringer Hut Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Ringer Hut). The LIMEX menu boards were initially used as insert menus for limited items offered at some stores, but will be gradually rolled out to approximately 550 stores nationwide from March 1, 2025.

Ringer Hut aims to reduce its environmental impact and create a sustainable society by promoting a variety of measures, including reducing food waste and improving food recycling rates through participation in the "Zero Food Waste Kyoto Project," as well as reducing the use of disposable plastics by actively using environmentally friendly containers and packaging.

Compared to paper, LIMEX Sheet requires approximately 94% less water during production and uses no wood pulp as a raw material, thus contributing to the conservation of natural resources. The company's own factory (Tagajo, Miyagi Prefecture), which manufactures LIMEX Sheet, uses virtually 100% renewable energy and zero CO2 emission coefficient electricity, and is expanding its product lineup for a variety of applications, including outdoor media, adhesive labels and stickers, and tapestries.

In response to the renewal of its menu boards, Ringer Hut was considering switching to a new material to replace the conventional laminated paper from an environmentally conscious perspective. Among the options, LIMEX was highly evaluated for its environmental performance, which contributes to the conservation of natural resources such as water and forests, and it was decided to adopt it. By using LIMEX Sheet, it is expected that the amount of water used in the manufacturing process will be reduced by approximately 70 tons* compared to conventional products.

■ What is LIMEX Sheet?

This intermediate product is made by processing LIMEX, a composite material with inorganic filler dispersion that contains more than 50% (by weight) of inorganic substances such as calcium carbonate, into a sheet. It can contribute to the conservation of resources such as oil, water, and forest resources used in the production of plastics and paper. Its environmental performance is calculated using a method called Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), which scientifically analyzes the environmental impact of a product's life cycle, from the procurement of raw materials to production, distribution, use, and disposal.

・Reduction of Petroleum-Based Plastics and CO2, Conservation of Water and Forest Resources

Compared to conventional petroleum-based plastic sheets and synthetic paper, "LIMEX Sheet" significantly reduces petroleum-based plastic usage and greenhouse gas emissions, including CO₂. Unlike traditional paper, it does not require wood pulp and consumes minimal water during production.

・Superior Durability and Water Resistance

With excellent durability and water resistance, "LIMEX Sheet" can be used in a variety of environments, including outdoor settings and wet areas.

・Versatile Applications Using Existing Equipment

LIMEX Sheet" can be processed using existing printing and conversion equipment, making it suitable for diverse applications such as posters, labels, maps, and files.
