-Promoting material circulation within Miyagi Prefecture for the new material LIMEX as an initiative to contribute to the SDGs and reduce environmental impact-
TBM Co., Ltd., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, CEO: Nobuyoshi Yamasaki, hereinafter TBM) is Vegalta Sendai Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Miyagi Prefecture), which operates "Vegalta Sendai", a member of the Japan Professional Soccer League We have signed a partnership agreement with Aoba Ward, Sendai City, President: Tomohiro Sasaki, hereinafter Vegalta Sendai) for the purpose of creating cyclical innovation and contributing to regional revitalization in Miyagi Prefecture.
TBM and Vegalta Sendai will further expand the use of the new material "LIMEX" in Miyagi Prefecture, collect used LIMEX products at the stadium, and strengthen regional cooperation by disseminating upcycled products. We will promote material circulation initiatives to achieve this.
Background
TBM develops, manufactures and sells the new material "LIMEX", which uses limestone as the main raw material. LIMEX has been highly evaluated for its contribution to climate change issues through resource conservation and CO 2 emission control, and currently more than 8,000 companies and local governments in Japan have introduced LIMEX as an alternative material to plastics and paper. In addition, we are strengthening partnerships with local governments and companies and promoting the spread of material circulation models in order to realize a recycling-oriented society, for which there is a growing need around the world. In Miyagi Prefecture, we have our own manufacturing bases in Shiroishi City and Tagajo Tagajo Shiroishi and we are working to create jobs in the prefecture.
Vegalta Sendai has been carrying out various hometown activities rooted in the community since the team was founded, with the club's philosophy and basic policy being the spread of sports in its hometown and activity area (Miyagi Prefecture), and social and regional development. In addition, the team as a whole is working to operate the club with a high degree of environmental awareness, such as being the first J.League club to implement separate garbage collection within the stadium.
Efforts under this agreement
In 2019, TBM was certified as Vegalta Sendai's "CSR Partner", and in order to promote stadium-based sustainability activities, we started using the new material LIMEX for goods used in Vegalta Sendai's activities. Aiming to further strengthen cooperation, TBM and Vegalta Sendai have concluded a partnership agreement with the aim of contributing to the creation of cyclical innovation and regional revitalization. We will continue to promote initiatives to achieve this.
1. Promoting the use of LIMEX, a new eco-friendly material with the aim of contributing to the SDGs
As part of Vegalta Sendai's "SDGs Action", LIMEX is used for pocket guides, beverage cups, shopping bags, etc. used at the home stadium. In the future, as an initiative to reduce environmental impact, we will work together to promote the spread of LIMEX and jointly promote the establishment of a LIMEX product collection scheme at Yurtec Stadium Sendai.
2. Contributing to regional revitalization by promoting material circulation
As the first step of upcycling that TBM and Vegalta Sendai are working on, the product development of artificial wood is made by mixing LIMEX, which is melted and recycled after being collected at Yurtec Stadium, and wood powder from Miyagi Prefecture, which is a local resource. to promote Vegalta Sendai plans to donate the upcycled artificial wood to Minamisanriku Town in Miyagi Prefecture in 2022 as part of its hometown activities in Miyagi Prefecture. In May 2022, Vegalta Sendai, in addition to Sendai City, will register all municipalities in the prefecture as hometowns, and in the future, TBM and Vegalta Sendai will also aim to promote material circulation in cooperation with all municipalities in the prefecture. .
3. Cooperation with fans and supporters for the development of local communities
In collaboration with Vegalta Sendai, we will actively carry out awareness-raising activities for fans, supporters, and local residents, and contribute to the development of local communities in Miyagi Prefecture. This time, we have released a message video that includes the recovery of LIMEX products with the participation of fans and supporters, and the thoughts of TBM and Vegalta Sendai toward the realization of a sustainable society in Sendai through the spread of LIMEX and material circulation. .
